Oxford Torch Relay- July 9th 2012

Here are a selection of photographs taken during the Torch Relay in Oxford. A lot of the festivities were happening in South Park within the city, which was only for city residents- so luckily some 'local' friends had some spare tickets to let me in.

As a fan of the Beastie Boys' in-your-face brand of pop music, I was shocked to hear the sudden loss of Adam Yauch, best known as MCA.

As a fan of silent cinema, as well as a lifelong affection for the iconic character Felix the Cat, this epic 'advert' has all the qualities that made the Otto-Messmer-animated Felix shorts so entertaining to this day. Don't expect a piano accompaniment thou, but that's not a problem as the animation aesthetics are THAT good.

There should be something to please a lot of contemporary music palettes with such videos as Hold On, or the lyrical grit of Plan B's Ill Manor. The behind-the-scenes video of MIA's Bad Girls music video certainly gives the scoop behind the cultural trend of Iranian drifting.
