Artober 2020- Day 6- Create Your Own Universe Excercise

I've been trying to finish off this Brothers McLeod book, Create Your Own Universe, since 2017. So perhaps, three years from winning it in a competition, maybe I can try and finish it.

So this was an excercise where I had to create a character and give them a persona that they hid behind a mask. So here is the accompanied text to go with this initial character design.

"This here is Becky. They claim to be a 'rising' star in musical theatre. Their dream is to become the next big thing to hit the West End. However, their mask is more of a theatre critic than as a team player. They prefer to hit the clubs with their friends than turn up for contracted performances, making Becky a bit of a diva rather than a hard-working performer, particular on social media. They choose to be like this to make sure they remain loyal to a select group of friends that have helped Becky to achieve their dream goal, giving those close to her very lovable.  But if things don't go her way,  Becky vents out their frustration on social media, upsetting colleagues that have worked with in the past. Because of these bad social media habits, Becky has a notorious reputation on set and stage."

Artober 2020- Day 5- Character Piece

Yeah, I was quite depressed by some old wounds today. So I made this conceptual piece to represent depression, I guess. Not much to say here, but this is probably the most refined piece I've done so far for Inktober.

Artober 2020- Day 4- Captain Scarlet Study

Just stumbled on someone sharing the illustrations from Ron Embleton that were used for the outro to the cult classic TV show, Captain Scarlet. So I decided to do a quick pencil study. Not something you can knock something in 10 or 20 minutes, but it was good to study such images that I remember fondly from watching this excellent series many years ago.

Artober 2020- Day 3- Navy Seal Study

Yeah, this is a pencil study to help me get some detail for my next Storyboard Challenge, which I started tackling on Day 1. Found a pretty good image to study so I just did this quick sketch.

Artober 2020- Day 2- Pencil Study of Mouth Dreams Album Cover

I'll be honest, I wasn't expecting to be doing a pencil study of an album today.

Yeah, it's from the album cover for an album called Mouth Dreams from Neil Cicierega (it's online if you're curious to hear it), but I was just drawn to its cover with a figure on its side on a pillow. I didn't get much time to do much with it, but you get the gist of what's going on here.

Artober 2020- Day 1- Model for Storyboard Challenge

Okay, it's not the most innovative start to Artober (no I'm not doing the OTHER one, this time around!), but I wanted to toy around with some figures for my next image in this Storyboad Challenge from StoryboardArt.

I'm not going to go into too much detail here, as I am going to revisit this idea for a finalised storyboard panel, but expect some different offering this time around on my blog and other areas out there for my artwork throughout October.
