I realised that I left a page out of the Loomis book. So instead of doing more projections, I will focusing on doing solid forms, which is considered 'real character drawing'- it looks like I'm going to be on this page for a while.
This was originally intended as blog designed so that Andy Norton, a postgraduate in Creative Digital Media, could discuss his influences whilst working on a comic for his Creative Portfolio Development module on that master’s degree. Now, the blog is intended to share articles relevant to his interests, as well as his artwork (past and present), as an experience graphic designer, with a background in illustration and animation.

Loomis Study- Further Trick Stuff... Again
I think that this is a vast improvement with my attempt on that head from yesterday.

Loomis Study- MoreTrick Stuff
I didn't do much today, but just a quick sketch of one of the heads in the Trick Stuff chapter.
It's not bad, but I wouldn't mind tackling it again just to be on the safe side that it has sunken in.

Loomis Study- Trick Stuff
I'm now onto another section of the Loomis book, in which he gives insight into some 'trick stuff'. This includes another technique to draw faces. So here is my stab at the first head using this 'trick'. It went okay, but I prefer my first attempt, on the left, over my second attempt, on the right- that one seems more faithful to the original head then the one on the right.

Loomis Study- More Expressions on that Character
I've think I have sorted out that problem that I had with yesterday's study with that expression and I feel pretty confident with the other expression done today- the one on the left.

Loomis Study- More Expressions
I've just realised that I'm currently doing some studies on the same head, rather then a different. So yesterday's drawing is meant to be the same head as these drawings. I think I am squashing the forehead too much, in contrast to the actual heads in the book. So I might revisit the head on the right to sort that out.

Loomis Study- Another Expression
You know the drill... another expression study, and I wasn't too confident as I was from the last study I did.

Illustration- Hanging Man
I wanted to draw something off the top of my head. And this is what came out. I really need to do more drawing!

Loomis Study- Really Furious
Today wasn't a good drawing day. I struggled to get to grips with this 'really furious' expression. I might need to take another stab at it on another day.

Loomis Study- The Frown
Today's expression study is the frown. I found it awkward to achieve the actual finished head in the Loomis book.

Damn. 2011 is already turning out to be a grim year for entertainment already.

Loomis Study- The Laugh
Another day, another stab at a Loomis head. The theory seems to be there, but I suppose it's when I start applying this theory into my own drawing that this will really sink in.

Loomis Study- The Smile
It has been 3 months since I studied from that Loomis book. So have I improved since the last time I did an exercise?
Probably... but I'll let you be the judge of that.

Crowd Ilustration
I have decided for my New Year's resolution to do more creative stuff, like drawing, film-making, performing, and so on. So here is, hopefully, one of the many drawings I will do over the course of the year.
It's an illustration depicting the hustle and the bustle of people in a small market town. I just wanted to do something out of the blue, rather then from a brief, or contest/challenge/art-jam. So I guess the illustration is a rough cluster of characters in a scene.
