Sketches done during Last Week

I also had time to do some concept sketches last week. So here is my attempt at trying to draw a character with back pain.
I wanted to achieve a noirish situation. But it didn't work out well.

Life Drawings Done During the Past Week

I was helping one of my relatives sort out her garage. So I did a drawing of the skip, where some of the stuff we got rid of.
This is another life drawing done whilst waiting for a train.
I was desperate to keep drawing- so I drew some pans in the kitchen.
I was helping with an event set in a church when I found time to quickly draw this piece from the top of a pew.

Life Drawings- Bus Stop- Abingdon

I was able to do some life drawing whilst waiting for a bus. I'm probably very rusty, but at least it gives me a break from doing stuff from a book.

Loomis Study- The Ball and Plane Method

This was some of my drawing trying to understand Loomis' method on drawing heads with his ball and plane technique. It might take me a while to fully take it all in.

Loomis Study- Brats- Several More Heads

I was able to work how to do that head I was trying to draw yesterday. But it looks like I got another one to work out for another day.

Loomis Study- Brats- Another Batch of Different Heads

They're not perfect, but at least I'm trying to learn from my mistakes.

Yesterday's Life Drawings.

Tried to do some life drawing whilst commuting to London yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn't much time to do any that counter-productive.

Loomis Study- Brats- More Different Heads

I think I need to work out how to draw these mouth shapes more accurately, as I feel that they're not 100% what they look like in the book. The head on the right look far too squashed- so I will revisit that when I have another page to draw out that head.

Loomis Study- Brats- More Heads

I though it made sense to attempt 2 heads rather then one, to make most of the pages in my sketchbook. They're pretty odd, aren't they?

Saturday 5 March 2011

Loomis Study- Brats- A Different Head

This head was hard to study, mainly because of the mark-making done to create the mouth was unlike Loomis' previous drawings of mouths. So I find it awkward to understand that part of the head.

Loomis Study- Brats

As a more cartoony progression from drawing those baby heads, the next page is on brats. I think these seem to be a faithful rendition of the original heads, although I thought the lip and the tooth needed to be distinguished on the crying head.

Loomis Study- Babies- The Final Head on That Page!

This was quite awkward to work out. But I was happy with the result of this. Now I progress onto the next page... all about brats!
