This was originally intended as blog designed so that Andy Norton, a postgraduate in Creative Digital Media, could discuss his influences whilst working on a comic for his Creative Portfolio Development module on that master’s degree. Now, the blog is intended to share articles relevant to his interests, as well as his artwork (past and present), as an experience graphic designer, with a background in illustration and animation.

Light and Dark Art Uploads- Paintings, Illustrations, and Wire Woman Studies
This is a batch of pieces done along the theme of light and dark. The paintings were based on scenes, and emotions, that I want to include inside my mask- and I won't be revealing my concepts behind this mask design just yet. The same can be said for the illustration of me on an exercise bike. The drawings all came from a still life drawing of this wire figure.

Light and Dark Series- Easel Drawings
In the art group I have been attending for over a year now, we currently have a theme on light and dark. And as I need an excuse to keep uploading pictures onto this blog, I decided to share the first batch of them .
I was doing still life drawing and I ended up drawing this easel in the corner of the room. The piece on black paper was an attempt at depicting the light sources in the room, and how the light was reflected onto the wooden surface of the easel. I think it worked well.
The piece on the white paper was really just a study of the actual object, with little effort done on the toning or shadows on the piece- I was going to work on the shadows using the black paper.

Still Life Drawings (9th-17th July 2011)
Spent the past week or so doing some still life drawing, mainly focusing on the contents that were placed on top a chest of drawers in my bedroom. Some of them were successful, but I had fun trying to draw my coin sorter in several of these drawings.

Post a Drawing Every Day- Day 33- Still Life Drawing of Kitchen Appliances
This is what happens when you try and do a still life study whilst cooking- you don't have much time to focus on the drawings, as you're trying to make sure the food doesn't burn!

Post Drawing Every Day- Day 26- Life Drawings (Figure,Still, and Landscape)
I have been doing some life drawing; so pieces that feature figure, still, and landscape drawing, for those pigeon holing art critics- they're all life drawings as they were done in real life, okay?
This was the most detailed drawing I did today, whilst waiting for my bus. The figure closest to the bin kept moving, so you can see a faint position drawn of that figure sitting.
And here's what came into that bus stop- a bus! Can't you tell? I guess not, as that bus wasn't there for long.
