Artober 2020- Day 15- Joker Study (90 Minute Art Challenge)

 It's back just in time for #Artober it's the latest #90MinuteArtChallenge with Bobby Chiu and Masae Seki doing their pieces live in Magma Studio. I might join them using that program as I feel my study from Joker is very similar to the last time I did such pieces. Oh well, let me know what you think.

Artober- Day 13- Continuation of Concept Panel

 

I'll be honest, I am not happy with this at all. I thought I could develop this drawing from yesterday with some colour, but I don't have the patience or the concentration to complete this any further. I might leave it for now and come to it another day.

Inktober- Day 16- Comic Colouring and Life Drawings.

Wow! I had a productive, and I'm liking what the marks are making that I did doing some life drawings today. The comic is for a potential paid assignment, hence the censored faces.

Inktober 2019- Day 4- Finalised(?) Censored Logo and Dr Oetker Cakes

Day 4 into my Inktober and I think I managed to finalise this logo for the client as I think the client hasn't given me any further feedback at the time of writing this blog entry. So with that professional brief out of the way... I thought I do this?
Remember when Channel 4's Great British Bake Off used to be sponsored by Dr Oetker? Well, here is an off-model attempt to recreate one of my favourites. Yeah, I should've looked at the original before doing this, but at least it was a bit of fun from some of the professional work I've been up to recently. I've also done some drawn inking, having just discussed this with an illustrator at a meetup a few weeks ago. I left it with the original pencilling because I like it.

Inktober- Day 3- Logo Redesign

I don't know if this counts as a different drawing, as I have to amend the colour scheme a bit of it. Not going to have to do much else now... but I might add some doodles to this post as I have had an exhaustive outing yesterday and it has caught up with me today. 

 I decided to upload last night's doodles on the programme note as I feel as I am not going to do too much on that logo on Day 4 than I am going to do so.

Inktober- Day 2- Logo Redesigns (Coloured, Traditional, and Initial Sketch)

Not going to get much done today, but I decided to go back to the drawing board, and resdesign this logo, so I wasn't forever revisiting the same files on a constant basis. 

Inktober 2019- Day 1- Logo Design Variants

Yes, it's Inktober again, and unless you want doodles from a meeting instead, this is probably the best I can offer today which is variants for a new client. I can't go much into the detail about this one yet, hence the censoring over the text, but I hope you appreciate how each design has changed over the course of an entire afternoon into the late evening. 

Mr BoJo Tackles Brexit- Satirical Cartoon Strip

I was inspired by a conversation I had with a friend this afternoon after a weird dream in which they conjured up a cross between Mr Blobby and our current prime minister Boris Johnson. It's simple, and a bit stupid, but I guess it works well. It's been fun to do as I haven't done any kind of illustrative work in ages, so it was good to get back into that vibe of doing such work.

The deadline for this art jam should be today... so here's what I could come up with. I revisited yesterday's piece to add textures to most of the blocks of colour, as well as an additional character. It seem to worked, but I think I would like to removed the pencilling, the bulky outlines, and maybe the characters, to show off the landscape I have made.

I have been mostly working on an art jam to depict this description: "A Volcanic Mining Facility Run by a Race of Salamander People"

Initial Sketches

 So after some research, I had an idea of what I wanted to do, so I sketched these ideas out.

After doing these pencil sketches, I had an idea of what to do for the final piece.

I decided to apply some block colouring, and also extract some pencil sketches to get some definition- this is kind of similar to what I was trying to do for an earlier piece, only without inking anything this time around. As I was also trying to extract certain drawings from certain sketches, I made myself into a conundrum about trying to achieve this for most characters, and objects, used in the piece. I also haven't had time to toy with texturing, or lighting, as I want to place down all the important elements in place. I should have some time tomorrow to do a more polished piece.

Post a Drawing Every Day- Day 8- Rough Digital Layout for Polictical Cartoon

I wanted to do some traditional inking, and was recently inspired from the antics going on at a war crimes trail, which led me to think it feels like a game of Call My Bluff.

So here are some of the 'high-profile' witnesses, with the judge (on the left) hosting a Call My Bluff with them. From left to right are my attempts of these three individuals : Mia Farrow; Naomi Campbell; and Campbell's agent, Carole White.
It's a digital layout because I have layered several drawings into a drawn layout, on top of one another. I am certainly going to revisit this to sort out the inconsistency with the inking, as well as adding the text, colour, and maybe textures to the piece.

I tried many times to get Campbell into the pose I wanted her, which meant studying a few pictures of her.

White proved a bit more tricky, as I needed to work how I would get her to hold up the card, and to make her seem distinguishable from the rest of the 'celebrities'.

For some reason, I found it easy to draw the judge, with her distinguish hair style, and stern look she seemed to have whenever I saw her on TV.
